The state government is once again promoting esports in Schleswig-Holstein this year. This stems from a current press release on the state portal of Schleswig-Holstein. The E-Sports Association Schleswig-Holstein (EVSH) plans to establish four more regional esports centers. This is supported by government digitization funds in the amount of €250,000. In addition, the State Parliament decided to provide direct support to the State Assembly EVSH for the first time in the amount of 71,600 euros.
Today (March 14) Secretary of State for Home Affairs Christina Herbst handed over funding notifications to the members of the EVSH Board of Directors at the Regional Esports Center in Flensburg:
“E-sports is a part of the daily life of many young people. The State of Schleswig-Holstein accompanies children and young people on their way to the digital world by funding many projects. In addition to the opening of the “State Center for Electronic Sports and Digitalization” in Kiel, we have already supported more than forty individual project.
Since 2019, 1.05 million euros have flowed to clubs and associations from the fields of sports, youth federation work and esports projects. State support for regional centers is an important building block in building an efficient infrastructure.
Christina Herbst further confirms:
“With the regional e-sports centers, improved framework conditions have been put in place, such as technical infrastructure for competitions and for youth promotion and high-performance areas. Co-working spaces, laptops, club-use times, schools and youth groups are also possible. With locations in Heide and Husum, we are closing Gaps are on the west coast, in Mölln in the southeast of the country. And in Ostholstein, we want to give the clubs that have established esports divisions a base so that they can better train the young ones there.”
By funding the first government association, EVSH could, among other things, improve the training of trainers and the relocation to a small office. Performance-oriented e-athletes are also given targeted support in collaboration with the Esports Players Foundation (EPF) and EDEKA-Nord.
An additional amount of 120,000 euros will be made available to finance clubs and associations in the field of entertainment and popular sports in 2022 for the further development of the municipal e-sports infrastructure.
Jana Moken, 2nd Deputy President of the Federation of Electronic Sports Schleswig-Holstein confirmed in a related statement:
“As an esports federation, we have received more and more strong support from the state of Schleswig-Holstein today. With government funding of over €320,000, we, as a state federation, have been able to spread esports through four new regional esports centers and three types of state championships, To create a SH team for the first time esports encourage young people and one person within the association to create an office.”
