Samsung is taking gamescom 2022 as an opportunity to announce two new gaming monitors for the Odyssey series. The curved G65B (27 and 32 inches) allows the 1000R and the perfectly straight G70B (28 and 32 inches) to change grayscale within 1 millisecond, bringing FreeSync Premium Pro with them and relying on the manufacturer’s smart platform (possibly Tizen) including That’s AirPlay 2, Samsung DeX, and the option to use Microsoft Office 365 in the cloud if desired. Even Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Co at first.
The smart operating system allows these and other functions to be used without the need to connect an external device to the monitors. Thanks to the Samsung Gaming Hub (PRAD News), game streaming services such as GeForce Now, Google Stadia or Xbox Cloud Gaming can be used directly on the models. Meanwhile, the built-in far-field microphone allows for hands-free voice control via Alexa or Bixby, as the latter should work even when the screen is off.
The G70B series IPS panel features a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) up to 144Hz and supports G-Sync-compatible sync. You should be satisfied with the WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) of the G65B models, but you can switch to a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz. Samsung is planning the global release of smart gaming monitors for the fourth quarter of 2022 and has not yet announced any sales prices or other key data.
