On December 17, Sega held the 17th anniversary of the ‘Ryu ga Gotoku’ series Attack!
This event is for Yakuza fans to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the Yakuza series. The contents of this fan meeting are irresistible for fans of the “Ryu ga Gotoku” series, including a tour of part of the development studio, an exchange meet with the creators, a tasting menu of the collaboration with the home delivery meal “Kamatura” and a general distribution of the distribution software.
There aren’t many opportunities to actually visit a development studio, and it’s unlikely that there will be a chance to interact candidly with creators doing work you like. Also, being able to eat a collaboration list with “Kamatora” was valuable, and it was a very lavish event where you could even watch the live broadcast program.
In this article I will tell you about the status of this event.

A valuable experience! Visit the Audio Capture Studio
At the event, I was able to take part in a studio tour of the “Sound Studio” and “Capture Studio”.
In “Sound Studio”, Mr. Masayoshi Yokoyama, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio Representative and Executive Producer, screened the footage of “Ryu ga Gotoku 8”.
We had discussions while reviewing the footage several times, such as whether the BGM to be used would match the scene image, adjust environmental sounds, and whether or not the sound of rubbing clothes would be included.
The tension was so high that both fans and the media were overwhelmed. According to Mr. Yokoyama, ‘This is not an endorsement, but in fact a work of ‘Ryu ga Gotoku 8’. ”I realized again.
In “Capture Studio” we were able to see the studio actually used to capture performers in previous series works. Just being able to see the studio is a precious experience, but it’s surprising that a fan was able to actually experience the capture.
It only took a moment to shoot, the flash fired twice and it was done. Image data can be confirmed immediately, and the 3D model will be completed within a few minutes.
The resulting 3D model looked exactly like the person himself, but according to a member of the development team who explained, “The data is not used in the game right away, but adjustments are made based on the data.”
While waiting for the model to complete, I was able to see the details as I rotated the character model for past work. It was impressive that the buttons on the clothes, the seams of the fabric, the backs of the earrings, etc. were all very detailed.
Finally, Mr. Yokoyama said, “I really wanted to hold a fan meeting after the release of ‘Ryu ga Gotoku 7’, but I couldn’t because of the novel coronavirus. I’ve been saying this for years, and today it came true, so I’m very happy.”
Also, regarding the latest series “Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! Kiwami” which is scheduled to be released on February 22, 2023, “it looks like it will be released on the release date (laughs). We are still in the final stages of debugging, etc… but it is a quality game, so please Looking forward to it.”
