Review: “Wonder Woman 4 – Four vs. Dr. Psycho”

We’re looking at the new Wonder Woman volume.

Wonder Woman returns to the human world from Paradise Island, her home, and the world of the Amazons. She is immediately thrown into an exciting adventure with her longtime love Steve Trevor, her friend Etta Candy, and the legendary hero Siegfried, who has followed her from Asgard to the world of modern humans. Her opponent, Dr. Edgar Cizko aka Dr. Psycho has created a new cabal of villains, the Villainy Incorporated, and he is once again manipulating humans – men who believe they must fight emancipation in order to preserve their freedom. When Wonder Woman tries to free the men from Dr. To free oneself, this Dolos, the god of deception, puts it on!

criticism

The new fourth volume of Wonder Woman takes us back to the world of Diana – and Siggi. In terms of drawing technology, you have to make some compromises here. Except for the last story, you’re not at your usual superhero level but a little more focused. However, it’s not as angular as it is in the first Poison Ivy volume, for example, so you can still see everything in the backgrounds and faces of the characters.

Story wise, our heroine gets a Dr. Psycho and Villainy Incorporated, that is, his team of supervillains. This includes well-known villains like Dr. Venom but also newcomers like the Shadow Twins. Admittedly, the setting isn’t new, as criminals teaming up to take down heroes run like sand by the sea through superhero history. There is also a milk plan behind it. Yes, that’s right, because Psycho distributes poisoned milk, among other things.

He also skillfully uses the media, but this is only marginally discussed. Thus, the entire Wonder Woman fight remains a bit unspectacular in many places, also because perhaps one or the other would have been predictable. But this time it’s not about the fight against the next supervillain, because here you have to fight the bad guys with skill – which, of course, does not mean that some fists don’t fly.

However, at least in terms of personality, one or the other falls by the wayside. Beautiful are the scenes in which Steve and Sigi make friends – as well as Diana’s “ex”. On the other hand, Diana remains a little pale except for some conversations with her sister and the adorable scene at the end with Cheetah. The psychic assistant lover, whom Diana turned on the good side in a classic way, works even better. It’s also pretty cool when Diana cripples Psycho’s lab in the woods, Tomb Raider style.

The last story, then, is unrelated to the main plot and presents a short attack on the Watchtower. Perhaps it’s mainly fun because our heroes sometimes show feelings for each other. Classic one take.
