criticism

It’s quickly approaching 100, because with this volume we’re only one issue away from that. In terms of story, two stories were presented again, with the first in particular being up to the usual good standard of a monthly series. Here both the background details and the characters feel quite vivid, while the second story is a bit more interesting and you have to make some compromises compared to the last volume. It’s not all bad and you can certainly live with it, but it was also better.

Story-wise, Yoda’s story did particularly well this time around. Because here the little Greenie goes between Krssish and Gehyr, who started fighting in the last volume. It’s nice that Dooku admits that he advised a Wookiee, even if you can of course guess that he doesn’t acknowledge his “experience” openly. His closeness to the dark side is subtly hinted here, but that was already the case in the final volume.

Of course, what’s even more bitter is that Jaehir joins the Fallen Jedi and leaves the order. In this regard, Dooku succeeded in sowing discord. As a reader, you feel Yoda’s failure just as much as the little man himself, and yet you know that Dooku is actually behind everything. Dark ending, which is probably why it works so well.

The second story about Vader can’t quite keep up with the character and actually consists largely of “action scenes” – or let’s say “power scenes” in this case, as the Sith Lord swings from room to room or from ship to space. It leaves some damage. Because due to a wave of power, he (and Palpatine) react uncontrollably. Once again, it is Sabi who rescues Vader and lands with him on the planet. It’s done well in this regard, even if the story is a bit weak, other than the strong visual panels.

But it’s nice to start a new level of work and you can let past events rest for the time being. They will certainly still play a role, but if you’re looking for a new entry point, this is definitely the place to be. In the end, Vader stated that he actually wanted to test Sabi again – nothing new in the country. We’ll have to see soon if the sequel will have any traction here.
