Christophe Pregardian and the French Baroque ensemble Le Concert Lorrain present a beautiful and captivating solo cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Given the fact that the high soprano and tenor voices generally have a shorter artistic life than the low voices, it cannot be surprising if a singer of a more mature age likes to change his registers. Tenor Christoph Pregardien, born in Limburg an der Lahn in 1956, recorded Bach’s famous cantatas BWV 56 and 82 for bass and baritone. Accompanied by the Baroque ensemble Le Concert Lorrain, founded in Metz in 2001, he impressed with his usual expressive speech and his beautiful, enchanting vocal timbre. In addition to the most pleasant location, he was certainly also attracted by the fact that the so-called Kreuzstab Cantata and “I’ve Had Enough” are among the finest vocal works ever created by Bach. This provides additional enjoyment for both the singer and the audience.
