Dresden.The final evening of performances by the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden brought the first meeting in this country with the Italian conductor (and violinist) Riccardo Menassi, which turned out to be so interesting and exciting that one would certainly like to see him on stage again soon. Not only has he worked with large and leading orchestras such as the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam and at important international festivals, but he is also active as a scholar. In addition, Riccardo Minasi offers a mixture of unconditional pursuit of precision and a mood increasingly prevalent throughout the evening, between inspiration and clever color differentiation. This was well received by the band. And above all, Mozart seemed very close to him. There was an introduction to The Magic Flute. Could he look so brilliant, detailed, and useful?! People rubbed their eyes and ears and immediately wished that someday Minasi could perform the complete opera in Dresden or even perform Mozart’s repertoire.
