With precise knowledge and great rigor, Javier Perianes presents Enrique Granados’s one-hour piano course “Goyescas”.
The lid of the grand piano is decorated with a painting by Goya! Beautiful idea for the cover of this album with “Goyescas” by Enrique Granados. Javier Perianes recorded this hour-long piano cycle – a very successful interpretation, full of colour, nuance, delicate rhythms and Spanish mood. While other pianists tend toward hesitation and mitigation, Periannis shows a determination based on an intimate knowledge of this music. Unlike Alicia de la Rocha, he avoids some of the lag and generally plays tougher. This may seem less sensitive at first glance, but Pyrianis knows exactly when and where to make changes. The result is an album rich in sound, which “El Pelele” completes at the end, combining emotion and sadness, but never sentimentalizing Granados’ music.
