Review by Carlo Montanero – Puccini: Tosca

Review by Carlo Montanero – Puccini: Tosca

There's nothing wrong with Carlo Montanero's new recording of Puccini's favorite opera “Tosca” with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.

If you compare the matching with the perfect outfit for the corresponding occasion, “Tosca” by Spinto singer Melody Moore looks very good: nice basic material with soft velvet edges and balanced colors. There is nothing wrong with a new recording of a piece that is popular with artists and audiences alike. Romanian tenor Stefan Pope also shows his merits in Milos in the somewhat more dramatic role of the painter Cavaradossi. As the sadistic Scarpia, Lester Lynch subverts the police chief's expectations with sharp statements and develops a deceptive potential for menace. The automated atmosphere is appropriate. Carlo Montanaro conducts himself lyrically and culinaryally when conducting the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. All the supporting roles, even the shepherd, who has the voice of the Lean girl Miray Yüksel, are helpfully cast.
