Willow returns to Sunnydale with a secret about Buffy and the whole family that will change their world! However, Willow has to keep her knowledge to herself for a while longer… Meanwhile, Buffy’s time as an assassin is about to end, because the Board of Watchers also have secrets. And this shocking fact could sever the bond between Robin, Giles and Elslayer. And it all starts with a young guard named Wesley…

criticism

The fifth Buffy volume in the reboot series continues the story, but is now a long way from the original Buffy new seasons in terms of graphic technique. The characters and backgrounds are also kept in one color and are simpler here. Although you can still get to know and usually designate people, the similarities with their proxy counterparts are a bit of history at this point at the latest. Don’t they just want to keep paying actors to use their lookalike pics? After all, it comes down to the level of your ancestor, just a new, different and simple style that you can get used to very quickly.

As for the plot, it’s all about the characters again, and action scenes are rare. It doesn’t have to be bad, and it’s not bad in this volume either. So Buffy is once again struggling with her usual teenage problems, although this time her boyfriend (or fortunately?) is the more sane one.

However, Willow and Xander are central to the story because the former still wants to get her boyfriend back. In fact, we still don’t know if Xander got really bad or if he’s still good at it. The comedian manages this balance well and you can hit it off with your friends, including one surprise or the other.

Of course, other characters should not be missing, even if their appearance is rather small. However, Willow, Wesley and the others also have to solve one small problem or another or face their own demons. Eventually, even the popular new Slayer appears. The new Slayer style may not be new, and it was prominent in the recent comic in particular (and in fact in the series as well). So fans will already be aware of this, while newcomers will definitely be picked here too.

It remains to say that the Buffy reboot is much more serious and darker than the previous funny and lively series (keyword: crying demons). However, this volume is also very interesting.
