Renishaw, a global engineering technology company, introduced the system Tempus™ technology before. This innovation allows users of Renishaw metal 3D printers to reduce build times by up to 50% without compromising component quality.
TEMPUS™ technology in detail
Unlike traditional powder bed systems that must fully distribute the powder before consolidating the layer, the TEMPUS™ system allows laser beams to be fired synchronously with the movement of the powder recoder. Patented technology allows seamless communication between advanced software and hardware to synchronize the system’s laser with the powder recoder, saving up to nine seconds of build time per shift. With thousands of build shifts, this can reduce the overall build time by several hours.
The new RenAM 500 Ultra with TEMPUS™
The RenAM 500 Ultra, the latest addition to the RenAM 500 Series, comes standard with TEMPUS™ technology and advanced process monitoring software. The combination of reduced build times and detailed visibility into the construction process makes the RenAM 500 Ultra a cost-effective and reliable option for metal component production.
Renishaw has entered into an exclusive partnership with metal components expert Alloyed, which has been using TEMPUS™ since 2021. Louise Callanan, Director of Additive Manufacturing at Renishaw, stresses the importance of reducing the cost per part for wider adoption of AM technology. Renishaw’s new systems and technologies can open up AM to mass production applications for which the technology was not previously applicable.
RenAM 500 Ultra: Adaptability to production needs
The RenAM 500 Ultra allows users to remain flexible as requirements change, is not limited by complex part geometries, and can easily adapt capacity to business needs. The RenAM 500 Series is available with one (500S) or four (500Q) high-power lasers that can simultaneously reach the entire powder bed, increasing productivity and reducing cost per part.
Renishaw’s commitment to advancing additive manufacturing is demonstrated by the adoption of this technology and the continuous improvement of its systems. More information about Renishaw’s additive manufacturing systems can be found on their website.
