Program of the workshop during the Pentecost holiday: Let’s play! – Games in the city library

Frankenthal. In the first week of the Pentecost holiday, four workshops on the topic of games for children aged eight to ten years and older will be held in the city library.

Children from the age of eight: play and construction for children

It starts for children ages eight on Tuesday, May 30 with “Draw Your Game! Create Your Own Jump and Run Game.” Using the app of the same name, children create their own “Jump and Run” games using the tablet on Tuesday. Game levels, obstacles and opponents are written on paper with black, blue, green and red felt-tip pens and then photographed using the tablet. This way, your game can be developed, tested and improved in the app.
On Wednesday, May 31st, we continue our “Minecraft Workshop: We’re Making a Village!”. Anyone who is already somewhat familiar with the operation of a computer keyboard and mouse can learn about the popular computer game and build a village in a shared world. For this, own ideas are developed, the first construction plans are drawn up and implemented on a laptop using a mouse and keyboard. There are building sections designed by the kids themselves, while other sub-projects are worked on together as a building team. Both workshops cost €4 each and take place from 10 am to 2 pm.

Kids 10 and up: Game experts wanted

Children a little older than ten years old are invited to the Minecraft workshop “Build Better with Redstone & Command Blocks!” On Thursday, June 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone who already knows something about Minecraft, i.e. already knows the controls and building, can expand their structures with Redstone. Redstone is routed like electrical cables, power mechanisms, and circuits. It is also an important formulation ingredient for redstone ingredients. Depending on prior knowledge, a variety of topics are introduced and then experienced using specific tasks. Gradually, a shared Minecraft world is created with secret doors, light switches, lamps, traps or an elevator. Subscription costs six euros.
On Friday, June 2, from 10 am to 2 pm, the free game workshop “Game Explainers Wanted!” For children ages ten and up. We are looking for game testers for Switch, PlayStation, laptops and tablets, who we will then use as experts for our Friday “Let’s Play! Games for Families” campaign on July 7th from 3-6pm. In the workshop, we think together how best to explain and experience the games. Children prepare hands-on activities and design a quiz around the games. In the end, not only did they play together, but they were well prepared to share their knowledge with others. Registration required.
