Prince Edward is given the role of Ulster Jubilee and William and Kate will travel to Wales where members of the royal family are set to visit the four countries to spread the unity of the United Kingdom
- Prince William and Kate Wills will be visiting during the Banking Weekend
- Edward and Sophie will go to Northern Ireland and Princess Anne to Scotland
- Charles and Camilla will remain in London, but there is no role for Harry and Meghan
The Queen will use the Platinum Jubilee to affirm the unity of the United Kingdom, and to send members of her family to all four countries.
Prince William and his wife Kate will visit Wales during the bank holiday weekend from 2-5 June.
Prince Edward and Sophie are going to Northern Ireland while Princess Anne is going to Scotland.
Prince Charles and Camilla will remain in London with the Queen.
There will be no roles for Prince Harry, Meghan and Prince Andrew.
The four main events of the weekend – Trooping the Color, Party at the Palace, Platinum Jubilee and Thanksgiving Service – will all be in London.
But Jubilee beacons will be lit at 2,000 locations across the UK and Commonwealth on June 2 and more than 60,000 Grand Jubilee lunches for millions of Britons will be held on June 5.
“Members of the royal family will attend engagements in every country, including public events to mark the occasion,” a palace spokesman said.
More details about the visits will be revealed in the coming weeks.
It comes after the Queen personally decided that only members of the royal family who are currently performing official public functions on her behalf are eligible to join her on the balcony at Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Color

Buckingham Palace last week confirmed more details about the platinum jubilee weekend of June 2-5.
They revealed that the Queen has personally decided, after “careful consideration”, that only members of the royal family who are currently performing official public functions on her behalf are eligible to join her on the balcony at Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Color, the first major public event of the festivities.
It also gave special permission for the three Cambridge children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to attend, as well as Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn, and Edward’s son and Sophie and her daughter.
Princess Anne’s husband, Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence, will be among the 18 attendees as he regularly accompanies his 70-year-old wife on official missions and tours.
He explained her decision in light of the frantic public debate over whether Harry, Meghan and Andrew could join her in a show of family unity, and that they wouldn’t be welcome.
But she was invited to join her in person at other events over the extended bank weekend including the Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Platinum Jubilee Contest.
Within minutes of its announcement, a spokesperson for the Sussex family in the United States was quick to release a statement saying they were “excited and honored” to attend with their two children.
Three-year-old Archie hasn’t seen his British family since he was a baby, while his sister Lily, who will celebrate her first birthday while in the UK, hasn’t met any of them.
There is a certain amount of anxiety among royal aides about how Harry and Meghan will be received and how the family dynamics will unfold in public.
William, in particular, has been hurt and angered by his brother’s behavior and his frequent attacks on the royal family.
But there is also a determination to put the family feud to one side to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of unrivaled service to the nation.
If Her Majesty is happy that this has happened, you can expect everyone to follow suit.
A source told the British newspaper, “The Mail”: “I also know that the Prince of Wales is particularly excited to meet his grandchildren.”
