The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services initially issued a warning on Sunday. The agency said human error led to the potential for widespread contamination of the fuel.
It happened in the port of Tampa but had a wide impact, including in southwest Florida.
The fuel in question was purchased after 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, at stations provided by Citgo from the Port of Tampa.
Experts tell WINK News that polluted gasoline and diesel have the potential to cause engine damage or render your car inoperable.
If you purchase gas from the affected stations after 10 a.m. on Saturday, report it to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDACS). You can file a complaint by calling 1-800-HELP-FLA or online at 1-800-HELP-FLA www.fdacs.gov.
