A desperate player asked for help on Reddit. My new gaming PC didn’t have the expected gaming performance. When the computer stops outputting any images, the community saves them.
A self-built gaming PC can be a lot of fun. But only if it works as planned. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for one player on Reddit. His computer provided suspiciously low performance. He made a mistake and didn’t notice it himself. But there are also cases where the manufacturer is to blame.
When you try to solve the problem, the system stops providing the image. A helpful Reddit community was able to help the desperate player. He plugged his monitor into the wrong port. When this issue was resolved, the player acknowledged the incident and thanked him for the clarification.
An expensive gaming PC only achieves 6 frames per second because the gamer plugs in the wrong graphics card
What problem did the computer encounter? The gamer with the Reddit name MiddleOwl handled a new gaming PC. However, the €1,800 system is said to have only delivered frame rates as low as 6fps in games. While searching for a solution, MiddleOwl discovered that their motherboard had an integrated graphics unit (iGPU).
When I tried to fix the problem, the computer ended up not outputting any images at all. He explained his problem Reddit He uploaded a photo of the back of his computer at the request of the community. This immediately recognized that MiddleOwl had forgotten to remove the protective caps from the graphics card connectors.
In the comments below his post, other Reddit users explained the issue. The solution was actually very simple. He was able to connect his monitor to the now exposed ports on the graphics card. This way, his computer finally worked as intended.
What devices are in the system? Via the link (via pcpartpicker.com) In his post, the helpful community received a list of all installed components. Here’s an overview of the most important parts:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 4.2 GHz
- Graphics card: XFX Radeon RX 7800 XT, 16GB video memory
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE, Socket AM5
Since the Gigabyte motherboard has an HDMI port and a DisplayPort port, the gamer assumed that he would have to connect his monitor there. The AMD Ryzen 7 7800 X3D processor has an integrated graphics unit that allows gaming at moderate settings. In comparison, the same graphics performance is lower than that of the Nvidia GT 1030 as of 2017 (via wepc.com).
In this combination of motherboard and CPU, you can use the iGPU to surf the Internet or play graphically demanding games. Graphics-intensive games require a dedicated graphics card, which the player does not initially use in the system. But graphics cards can’t just be used for gaming, as one student recently demonstrated.
Why does my gaming PC no longer output an image at all? When MiddleOwl realized that its games were running on so-called integrated graphics, it says it disabled the graphics module in the BIOS. As a result, the computer no longer outputs any images at all.
Since he allegedly couldn’t find any other graphics ports on his gaming PC, he desperately asked for help through a post on Reddit. After his problem was solved, he thanked him several times for the help.
