Those who want a larger screen can take the entire mobile device to the Pimax Portal XL, a screen with integrated controllers that offers 8.8 inches diagonal, 2560 x 1600 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. As if that weren’t enough of an intriguing accessory, Pimax also offers the mini terminal, which is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U, with 32GB of RAM, along with a 1TB SSD and a 56W battery. Games can be streamed wirelessly from this small station to mobile games via WiGig.
Of course, a docking station is also provided, allowing the handheld device to be connected to the TV, while Pimax wants to develop an entire developer ecosystem around the hybrid console. With such big promises, caution is advised – ambitious Kickstarter projects often fail when it comes to implementation.
