I’m planning to buy a laptop for the next month as I’ll likely be on the road more in the coming months and years than before. Here the focus is on Music production, office and light games.
1. What do you want to use your laptop for? Commercial or private use?
Use it on the go because I have a gaming PC at home.
1.1 Do you want to use your laptop mainly mobile or stationary? How should a laptop be? Should it be a 2-in-1 laptop / convertible?
Mobile, ordinary notebook is sufficient.
1.2 If you want to play games: What are games? What is the level of detail?
Playing easy á WoW, Genshin Impact, Valorant, Crusader Kings 3 & Co.. I’m also happy to compromise the graphics quality here.
1.3 Editing Music/Photo/Video or CAD: Which Program? Profession or hobby?
Music production with FL-Studio, if light photo editing required.
2. What is the screen size? Do you want a touch screen or a particularly high quality display?
Accurate. 14 inches would be great. But don’t restrict me here.
3. How long should the battery life be?
Don’t bother me here, about 6 to 8 hours would be desirable.
4. What operating system do you want to use? Is there a license? Should the notebook already have an operating system preinstalled? Do you get Windows through university?
Uni license for Windows available.
5. Do you have any wishes regarding design, processing quality, material or colour?
Preferably not too heavy/plumpy
6. Are there any other special requirements that have not been asked? Big hard disk? number plate? Keyboard backlight? pen support? Do you want to dock via USB-C / Thunderbolt 3? CD/DVD drive? (Educational) Discounts? Service and warranty? maintenance options? SD card reader?
Get a student discount.
7. How much money do you want to spend? Is buying used an option?
Less than 1000 euros, optimally in the range of 700 to 800 euros.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!
