Neve Campbell does not rule out a return to Troubled Screaming Commercial franchise.
A seventh film in the series was in the works, but it was derailed by the departure of Melissa Barrera and co-star Jenna Ortega, as well as the lack of a director following Christopher Landon's exit.
Campbell, the original Screaming Star, did not appear in the sixth film due to a dispute over pay. Her last appearance in the series was 2022's fifth Scream film, in which she reprized the role of final girl Sidney Prescott.
Campbell was interviewed on the red carpet by IndieWire At this weekend's BAFTA Tea in Los Angeles, she said she was not opposed to a return.
“It's sad to me that they're struggling right now,” Campbell said. “I imagine people at the top are spinning a little bit, trying to make the right decision. I guess I imagine people want to do the right thing. I’m hopeful. I love this franchise. I love it, Lewis.” [Craven]. I love it for everyone involved and even the new actors. “I hope it doesn't collapse.”
Asked if she would rejoin the franchise, Campbell said: “Under the right circumstances? Yes. I made a statement several years ago that this was the reason I wasn't doing the film at the time, and I really felt the need to stand up and say I didn't “I think I would have been treated that way. I've been a franchise guy for 25 years, and that's still the case. So, if they choose to come back to me, that's still what I'll benefit from. We'll see.”
