With sisters Baiba and Lauma Skride from Latvia and Dutch cellist Harriet Craig, three first-class artists have come together. They often play together as piano trios, but all of them also have many other artistic projects as chamber musicians and soloists.
Baiba Skride is one of the most admired violinists of our time. She plays as a soloist with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Boston and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In the 2022/2023 season she will be on stage in North and South America, Europe, Japan and Australia.
According to a review from Radio Bavarian, Lauma Skride’s playing was “fantastically delicate, with great timbre, and time after time with a very subtle strength.” Combined with superb technique, these are the qualities that enable Lauma Skride to inspire enthusiasm on the most important national and international stages, whether as a soloist or as a chamber musician. Among others, she is the coveted chamber music partner of Anne-Sophie Mutter.
Dutch cellist Harriet Craig is known for her temperament as well as her sense of sound. The artist demonstrated her special affinity for chamber music when she became a member of Artemis Quartet in 2019, succeeding Eckart Runge. Additionally, Harriet Craig works closely with pianist Magda Emara.
The three musicians will come to the NDR Kultur Foyer Concert on tour with a colorful program showcasing a variety of aspects. In conversations with NDR Kultur editor Ludwig Hartmann, the artists will provide information about their shared interaction, artistic and personal experiences – and may also reveal a secret or two little secrets.
