Using the app, visitors can digitally experience the Hofmühle Museum, the Allgäu Mountain Farming Museum and Immenstadt city centre. How it works.
Schorsch stands in front of the arch at the entrance to the monastery garden in Immenstadt and tells how the garden was used by monks in the past. Next to him, the green meadow suddenly turned into a historical sketch. Schorsch is an avatar – a virtual character that can be seen on a tablet. It is part of the Museo app, which has now been introduced and is ready for use at the Hofmühle Museum, at the Allgäu Mountain Farming Museum in Diepolz and in the center of Immenstadt. For example, Schorsch users can find information about the history of Immenstadt as part of a city tour or private tour.
This is possible with technology, the contents of the so-called augmented reality (EN) offers. All users need is a digital device, such as a smartphone or tablet, and “MuseoApp Immenstadt”. Users use it to photograph their surroundings. Then notes on the various contents appear on the screen. With a single click on the hint, for example, Schorsch appears on the screen. The information also leads to audio files, videos, and information pages, among other things.
Watch the shoemaker in action and listen to a bell bell party
Visitors to the Hofmühle Museum can watch the shoemaker nail his sole or discover in an AR video what the “Blue Fish” quality stamp is. At the Mountain Farmers Museum, users of the app can, for example, join a hay gathering or listen to a bell concert. A map of the museum or the city center acts as a guide, marking the points where the application presents the content. There are also information boards with instructions in the city. “It’s a really cool project,” Mayor Nikko Centner said when presenting the application at the Hofmühle. This means that the museums and city tour can be experienced digitally. According to officials, there are currently about 30 AR points in museums and 13 in city tour. More content will be added to the three facilities in the future. The individual points are not working properly yet. Hypothetical note on historic Imme motorcycle did not respond to the click. However, Museums and Tourismus GmbH have announced their intention to develop the app on an ongoing basis.

Viewing should be barrier-free, says Theresa Schuberl of Alpsee Immenstadt Tourismus GmbH. Museums and tourist information offices provide tablets and audio equipment for borrowing. The app also provides the option to turn on subtitles and set different languages.
The Museo app cost a total of 300,000 euros. 90 percent of this amount comes from funding from the federal program “Neustart Kultur”. The remaining ten percent of the costs (10,000 euros each) will be borne by the various institutions. “I’ve achieved advanced digitization in all three institutions,” Sentner says. The app also promotes added value in the city, where visitors can sit in a café and eat or drink while on a city tour, for example. Experience the Hofmühle, Allgäu Mountain Farming Museum and Immenstadt digitally
The schedule was already tight at the start of the project. The application was originally scheduled to begin on October 1 last year. After two additions, the app is finally available in the mature version on March 31st.
The software was developed by Stuttgart startup Deepr in collaboration with Museopic from Lyon. Franz Walter of Untereinharz realized the various contents with his media production company. The actors in the videos, whether AR or classic, are members of the Martinszell Youth Theater.
