Spider-Man, Spider-Man
to “Ugh, spider” Dec 17th: I’ve been a reader of SZ for many years and am very satisfied with the overall coverage. But that day, I was really pissed off with the review of the new Marvel movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. The entire review is essentially an examination of the author’s apparent ignorance of the context in which the film is set. The author himself writes: “Cross references to other characters and storylines in the Marvel universe are growing every time, and no ordinary person can keep up.” Which puts an audience of millions in a corner and accuses them of not being normal.
The following quote also testifies to the ignorance of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): “Unfortunately, I’ve seen it 425 times in the past few years. One movie follows another, in between the actor changes, otherwise almost everything remains the same.” No, not everything remains the same. With the third Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland, the films were listed in the MCU. This adds value to the films. They usually work well on their own, as part of the MCU they greatly enrich the entire story. Because the author simply ignores this entire background, as he is clearly not interested in or has little interest in the MCU universe, he finally loses himself in his role as a highly critical film critic on the film’s story: a critic, you naturally get philosophical ideas right away. Are there other film critics in the multiverse watching and writing about “Spider-Man” films? “
Please understand my letter to the editor constructively. Try to understand what makes the MCU so great: about 30 films so far are connected in one way or another in a narrative way. This is a huge achievement, and as far as I know it has never happened again in the history of cinema. And the second point: The Marvel films from the MCU are the most successful films of our time. why is that? What kind of cultural phenomenon is this? Where does this magic come from? These are the questions the features section has to ask itself. do not you think so? Of course, this does not mean that each of these films is a masterpiece. One must understand before he judges. Perhaps, as the author suggests, a particular fellow would be Ö. Prefer to write a review.
