Modder introduces a homemade Wii gaming PC

Modder introduces a homemade Wii gaming PC

Nintendo released the Wii in 2006. Until then, the console stood out for the fact that it didn’t show much computing power, but it did inspire a special gaming experience. At the same time, the design with white housing in a modern form and light blue was very attractive. Now the Alex_Tries_Tech mod had a great idea: a Wii-style gaming PC!

Fast CPU and lots of FPS

The so-called WiiC has an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U CPU and runs on Windows 11. The system is not lacking in performance, as the WiiC runs up to 100 frames per second on Fortnite. In Rainbow Six: Siege, the system is supposed to run 60fps at 1080p and Minecraft in 4K doesn’t seem to be an issue either.

Several months of work

According to Alex_Tries_Tech, he spent several months working on the project. As can be seen on TikTok, there was a lot of manual work required. Incidentally, the computer system, which is based on the Ryzen APU mini PC, had to be manually modified to fit in the case. Among other things, the motherboard was modified for this.

However, the drive is not installed. The same goes for the Gamecube controller ports. There was simply no room for these additions. The modder even considered light blue RGB lighting.

What software is used for Wii games?

To emulate Wii games dolphins used. Dolphin is a free GameCube and Wii emulator for Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android. As you can see in the video, the whole thing seems to be working fine.

conclusion

Really cool project. The final WiiC looks confusingly similar to the original Wii. On top of that, the surprise for visitors must be pretty great: you think it’s an old Wii, which is actually a solid surprise gaming pc installed. This would make it the best WiiC currently available. enviable! If you want to know more about the project, you should On Alex_Tries_Tech’s TikTok channel falling off.
