Forza Horizon 5 has the best score.
Halo Infinite is the last big release of 2021 and with that over, review platforms can finally strike a fair and comprehensive balance for 2021 video games.
In 2021, Microsoft was the publisher that stood out most favorably, both in Metacritic and in OpenCritic. If we look at the best Metacritic games of 2021, Microsoft has three entries (in fact, there are four, Forza Horizon 5 comes in two versions).
In the top 10 of 2021 from Metacritic, Microsoft has Forza Horizon 5 at 92, Psychonauts 2 at 92, and Microsoft Flight Simulator at 90. It’s the publisher with the most games in the top ten.
If we look at OpenCritic, the picture is a little different. Forza Horizon 5 was rated the best game of 2021 (again at 92), followed by Cupid Parasite for the Nintendo Switch, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
The Psychonauts appear in the Open Critic Top 10 in sixth place, with a score of 89. Other notable games include Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart at 8th with a score of 88 and Monster Hunter Rise at 10th (also 88).
As for Halo Infinite, right now the Xbox Series X has 86 copies on Metacritic. The game has the same score on OpenCritic.
