Michael Newman dies: 'Baywatch' actor was 68 years old

Baywatch Young Michael Newman has died, 18 years after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Newman died “of heart complications” on Sunday, October 20, “surrounded by his family, friends” and friend Matt Felker, who recently directed the Hulu documentary series. After Baywatch: A Moment in the Sun, confirmed to the people.

Newman became known for his role as lifeguard Mike “Newman” Newman on NBC's Lifetime Baywatchin which he appeared in 150 episodes from 1989 to 2000. Newman was the only cast member on the show who was actually a lifeguard. He has worked as a lifeguard in Los Angeles County for 20 years, starting at age 10 as a junior lifeguard in Santa Monica.

Baywatchan action drama series about lifeguards who patrol beaches in Los Angeles County and Hawaii, was canceled after one season on NBC but survived in syndication, eventually becoming the most watched series worldwide with over 1.1 billion viewers. The series was created by Michael Burke, Douglas Schwartz, and Gregory J. Bonan, and stars David Hasselhoff alongside a cast that includes Pamela Anderson, Alexandra Ball, Gregory Allan Williams, Jeremy Jackson, Parker Stevenson, David Chokachi, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, David Charvet and Yasmine Blythe and Nicole Eggert.

Newman also appeared in a spin-off series Baywatch nights and the 1998 film Baywatch: White Thunder in Glacier BayAnd also comedy Welcome to Hollywood And action drama Enemy action.

Newman was also a full-time firefighter during filming baywatch, He continued to fire until his retirement, according to the people.
