Patent-pending technology
April 6, 2023 – Vancouver, BC /IRW Press/ – Medaro Mining Corp. (CSE: MEDA) (OTC: MEDAF) (FSE: 1ZY) (“Medaro” or the “Company”), a diversified venture company focused on developing an innovative lithium exploration method on its Canadian hard rock lithium extraction property, is pleased to announce the Filing of two provisional patent applications (PPAs) for its spodumene processing technology (“Technology”).
Lithium is a key component in electric vehicle batteries, which are gaining popularity as the world transitions to clean energy. However, the current methods of extracting lithium from spodumene in the world’s scattered ore deposits of lithium-rich pegmatites are expensive and not environmentally friendly.
Medaro’s technology, which has been in development for nearly two years, addresses these challenges by making the lithium extraction process more efficient and reducing environmental impact. This technology relies on a combination of physical and chemical steps to extract both lithium and aluminum from spodumene in a highly efficient and environmentally friendly manner. Here are the main features of the technology:
It is used for rapid production of high purity lithium carbonate and/or lithium hydroxide monohydrate from spodumene concentrations with very different Li2O contents.
– Requires only three starting materials (spodumene concentrate, carbon dioxide and water).
It is compact, modular and highly scalable, also suitable for use in remote areas.
Commercial grade aluminum hydroxide/oxide is produced as a salable by-product.
– It can only be powered by green electricity.
– The closed internal recycling concept reduces overall processing time and costs and generates low amounts of environmental waste.
Taking all these aspects into consideration, this technology can reduce the total cost of spodumene treatment by at least 30% to 50%.
“We are very pleased to have filed patent applications for this revolutionary technology,” said Faizan Lalani, President of Medaro. “Our team is working tirelessly to develop a solution that will make the extraction of lithium from spodumene more sustainable. We believe this technology is an important step in that direction.”
The technology has been successfully tested on a lab scale, and Medaro is currently finalizing plans to build its first pilot plant in the United States. In addition, the company is also exploring opportunities to partner with other mining companies in various fields that will benefit the progress of lithium mining.
