Madonna discusses being insulted for being open about her sexuality and being a pioneer

Madonna spoke about her position as a pioneer of women in the entertainment industry in a message shared on her Instagram Story on Saturday.

The 64-year-old songwriter touched on the outrage she received during her decades-long career as the ‘Queen of Pop’ – specifically who has been defamed for her hyper-sexualized persona.

The Grammy-winning performer believes she “paved the way” for the likes of Miley Cyrus, Cardi B and pop culture icon Kim Kardashian.

Madonna started her post by talking about her iconic sexual picture book, which came out in 1992. The outspoken book sparked outrage while also being praised for its sophisticated nature.

She wrote, “30 years ago I published a book called SEX In addition to pictures of me nude, there were pictures of men kissing men, a woman kissing a woman and me kissing everyone.”

“I’ve also written about my sexual fantasies and shared my view on sex in a sarcastic way,” Madonna continued.

The Borderline singer went on to express that she has been the target of criticism from less extroverted individuals.

“I spent the new few years being interviewed by narrow-minded people who tried to hold me back for empowering myself as a woman,” she recalls.

Then Madonna noticed that she was called aw****, a heretical witch and a demon during this time period.

The playmaker went on to express that contemporary artists were allowed to be more open about their sexuality.

The artist continued to share a duo of videos of her story, as she sat down for an interview about her book.

While seated, the interviewer stated that he was “frightened” after reading the singer’s book, and I asked him why he was afraid of its content.

“I think people’s reactions to certain situations in the book were more of a reflection of that person than me,” she said.
