Loretta Lynn's granddaughter dies after 'difficult health battle'

Lynn Massey, the great-granddaughter of country music legend Loretta Lynn, has died at the age of 64.

The sad news was announced on Thursday. Official Instagram account run by Lynn's heirs.

“Betty Sue’s daughter, Lynn Massey, Loretta’s first granddaughter, passed away this week after a long and difficult battle with illness,” the post read. “Our family is so grateful for the prayers and love they have continually shown us.”

No further details about Massey's illness have been released.

Fans were devastated by the news, with one writing: “Prayers for the family. She is now with her grandmother.

Loretta Lena died in 2022 at the age of 90.

The Kentucky-born country singer — known for songs like “Coal Miner's Daughter” — became a grandmother to Macy when she was just in her 30s.

Lynn had six children and 26 grandchildren, including Amy Russell, 24, who appeared on “American Idol” earlier this year.

Lynn, who married at the age of fifteen, used her impoverished childhood as the basis for many of her hit songs.

She also faced great tragedy even after gaining fame and fortune with her brilliant singing career.

Four of her six children preceded her in death.

Lane's eldest son, Jack Benny Lane, was found drowned in 1984 at the age of just 34.

Meanwhile, the singer's eldest daughter – and Massey's mother – Betty Sue died of complications related to pneumonia in 2013.
