Lorde looks unrecognizable with blonde hair while riding the subway… weeks after writing an open letter to fans about her suffering from ‘heartbreak’

Pop sensation Lorde looked almost unrecognizable after undergoing a drastic hair transformation.

While she’s known for her dark, wavy hair, a fan was able to spot the Tennis Court hitmaker, 26, with her new bright blonde locks while riding the subway earlier this week.

For her relaxed outing, the two-time Grammy winner Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor tried to keep a low profile while wearing a green T-shirt tucked into her white pants and a surgical mask, which she wore under her chin.

She styled her wavy tresses into two braids and wore a pair of white headphones as she used the Big Apple’s popular public transportation to get around.

After a fan asked for a selfie with her, Lorde graciously agreed.

Later, the fan, who goes by the Twitter handle @snarkilytm, uploaded a photo of them together and another of the musician from the side.

Last month, the New Zealand singer shared a painful open letter with her fans, in which she revealed she was experiencing personal “grief”.

The artist shared a newsletter titled “How It Was Retouched” with subscribers, hinting at issues in her relationship with her longtime boyfriend Justin Warren.

‘I’m different but the same. I’m in pain all the time, I forget why and then I remember. I’m not trying to hide the pain, I understand that pain is not something that can be hidden.

The New Zealand native continued: “There is indeed a wonderful beauty in moving with her. But sometimes I get tired of being with myself.”

Lorde then said she wished she could turn back the clock and stop taking her medications.

“I’m sitting in a time machine and waiting for it to move, but it hasn’t been invented yet. The little yellow pill I’ve been taking every morning for thousands of mornings since I was 15, I stopped taking it 5 days ago. I’ll see how it goes.

While her hurtful message didn’t explicitly mention her relationship issues with her music executive boyfriend Justin Warren, fans were quick to speculate that’s what she was hinting at.

Lorde is known for being very private and has only made two Instagram posts since joining the site two years ago.

But in the years since, they’ve toured the world together, and Justin has been spotted near the singer’s $2.8 million villa.

Lorde, known for her friendship with Taylor Swift, broke up with her ex-boyfriend James Lowe at the end of 2015.

She told Stellar magazine in June 2017 that the breakup took her to some “crazy places” and she turned to “self-therapy” to deal with her feelings.

But in the years since, they’ve toured the world together, and Justin has been spotted near the singer’s $2.8 million villa.
