We have our first big results to report at the 2021 World Championships! Today, Saturday night, the last matches and Top 5 series of the Upstream Play-Ins stage are over. This means that the remaining four participants who have reached the group stage that will start next week have also been identified.
After LNG Esports (4-0 in Group A) and DetonatioN FocusMe (3-1 in Group B and a tiebreak win over Cloud9) came first on Monday, October 11th, in the five strong groups A and B respectively after qualifying in the group The stage began in 2021, six teams had to fight for entry and the remaining two slots into the second stage of overtime play.
It became clear in the final
These teams were PEACE, RED Canids, Galatasaray Esports, Beyond Gaming, Cloud9 and Hanwha Life Esports. In a best of 5 series, PEACE and Beyond Gaming defeated their opponents (RED Canids and Galatasaray Esports) 3-2 after matches in the semi-finals, before meeting Cloud9 and Hanwha Life Esports in the final.
There results were more than one side. Cloud9 (3-0 against PEACE) and Hanwha Life Esports (3-0 against Beyond Gaming) won and entered the group stage of the Worlds 2021 Championships alongside DetonatioN FocusMe and LNG Esports.
Groups have been fixed
After the twelve teams that qualified strongly for the group stage had already been drawn into groups A to D, the remaining four spots – one for each group – were drawn and filled by the end of overtime. This results in the following constellations:
In addition to Infinity and Unicorns of Love, who were eliminated from the bottom of the group, dreams of participating in the Worlds 2021 main event are now also over for six other teams. But who will win out of the remaining 16 teams, which are currently the best LoL esports teams in the world?
After qualifying, Cloud9 was drawn to Group A by play. There the ambitious team from North America will meet the world champion DWG KIA, FunPlus Phoenix (LPL #2) and third from European LEC, Rogue. A very difficult board that can almost be described as a collection of fatalities.
On the other hand, DetonatioN FocusMe, who finished first in Group B in overtime play, will also compete in Group B once again in the main event from Monday. LPL Champion EDward Gaming, 100 North American Thieves and the legendary T1 await in LCK’s LoL E-Sport, which this time “only” comes with the third seed.
South Korea’s Hanwha Life Esports, who massively won the group stage deciding series 3-0 against Beyond Gaming, meet PSG Talon (PCS #1), Fnatic (LEC #2) and Royal Never Give Up (LPL #3). ). So we also have four teams from four different regions.
Last but not least, the only team completely undefeated in the Play-In stage, LNG Esports, to finish first in Group A with 4-0, joins the group stage of Group D in 2021. LEC Champion MAD Lions and Gen. G (LCK #2) and Team Liquid (LCS #2) are waiting for the Chinese there.
