Linux can now play 79% of the 100 most popular games on Steam

The gaming segment continues to grow, with platforms overtaking many platforms today. If a few years ago a Windows game was exclusive to these systems, nowadays, through some tools, it is not.

Linux can now play 80% of the 100 most popular Steam titles thanks to Proton.

Proton: A Windows Game Launcher on Linux

Proton is a tool released by Valve Software that has been integrated into Steam Play to allow running Windows games on Linux as easy as clicking the Play button in Steam. Proton Tool is a modified version of Wine that uses Vulkan so that it can run Windows games on Linux that require DirectX 11 and 12. Remember that Proton was integrated into Steam Play in 2018.

According to recent information, Proton allows you to play 79% of the 100 most popular Steam titles thanks to Proton. On the other hand, only 40% of Steam's TOP 10 games have Linux support thanks to Proton.

Linux can now play 80% of the 100 most popular games on Steam

If we expand the filter to more than a thousand popular games on Steam, the percentage drops to 77%, which is close to that of the top 100 games.
