It’s time for What’s-Twitter-Bitching-About-About-Now – and today, Heather MatarazzoAn old Disney movie character is being put under the microscope…probably for good reason.
If you see “The Princess Diaries” common This weekend…that’s why. Ask someone a A question, writing… “Who’s the worst imaginary friend you can think of?” The tweet started, and the consensus seems to be… Lily Moskovitz from 2001 American actress Anna Hathaway click.

Apparently, users of this Bird app remember this performance well… and they brought the receipts to support their argument that Lilly is kinda bad. They may even have a point!
People have posted sets of scenes from ‘TPD’, reviewing a lot of moments between Mia and Lily – including one notable from the start… where she tells Matarazzo (in character) Ah she can’t believe it’s not over after her father’s death two months ago.

hahahaha
There are other scenes mentioned as well… including a fair bit where Lily hates Mia’s rise as a princess – calling her a loser and making her feel guilty for changing her into something she no longer knows… while also trying to use her at various points for personal gain.
In fact, in this very focused context…Lilly/Matarazzo definitely comes across as kind of a hit.
However, it’s somewhat ridiculous how these interviews unfold in the feed… Some on Twitter seem really upset that Lily has been such a bad friend and has since been labeled “toxic”… Maybe she doesn’t live up to society’s BFF standards supportive, especially in 2022.
Of course, Lily isn’t real… and this movie was made over 20 years ago. More importantly, Mia stands up for herself – and Lily eventually apologizes, completing her arc.
If we’re being honest, the fact Lily’s discussion at all today speaks volumes about how good a job Matarazzo did all those years ago… and how we can’t have good things anymore.
