The first two monitors worldwide have been awarded the new VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification. These are LG’s Ultragear 27GP950 and 27GP850 gaming monitors. The new VESA certification logo aims to allow users to compare monitor performance in relation to VRR before purchasing.
At the beginning of May, VESA introduced new monitor certifications aimed at ensuring a certain set of functions in the field of variable refresh rates, namely AdaptiveSync Display and MediaSync Display. LG Electronics’ two Ultragear gaming monitors, the 27GP950 and 27GP850, became the first in the world to receive AdaptiveSync Display certification. The South Korean electronics company announced this on May 23. VESA’s AdaptiveSync Display logo is designed to help customers compare Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) performance before purchasing a gaming monitor.
With more than 50 criteria that must be met to obtain VESA certification
According to LG, both gaming monitors had to meet the strict requirements of the VESA AdaptiveSync Display Compatibility Test specifications. For this purpose, more than 50 test standards have been developed, which define clear criteria for assessing the VRR capability of a monitor or laptop. The refresh rates, GtG response times, and response times of the 27GP950 and 27GP850 monitors are said to have met or exceeded the target values set in the new VESA standard.
Both LG Ultra Gear displays come with 27-inch screen diagonals and response times of 1 millisecond (GtG) each. While the standard refresh rate on the 27GP950 is 144Hz (160Hz OC), it is 165Hz (180Hz OC) on the 27GP850. Both gaming monitors also have a Nano IPS panel.
