Justin let someone else Timberlake drive the wheel.
The pop star, who was arrested for DWI in the Hamptons early Tuesday morning, is back in New York City where his wife, Jessica Biel, is currently filming, a source told Page Six.
Instead of driving himself, we hear Timberlake hired a driver to bring him back after the pop star met with his lawyer following his release from police custody.
Penalties for DWI offenses include fines and license suspension in New York, so the pop star may need to rest easy while sitting in the sexy back.
Bell is currently in town filming Prime Video's upcoming thriller series “The Better Sister.”
The “Mirrors” singer was photographed leaving the Sag Harbor Village Police Department on Tuesday morning. A source tells us he hit the road after meeting with his lawyer.
Per Page Six, Timberlake was with friends at the American Hotel on Main Street before he left his car around 12:30 a.m.
Officers administered a field sobriety test on him, but he refused their request to take a breathalyzer test.
We're also told that the cop who stopped Timberlake “was so young he didn't even know” who the 10-time Grammy Award winner was.
“He didn’t recognize him or his name,” our inside source said.
A second source added: “Justin said in a low voice, 'This is going to ruin the tour.' The policeman replied: “Which round?” “World tour,” Justin said.
Timberlake was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated and two other traffic violations: failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to remain in the correct lane of travel.
A criminal complaint obtained by Page Six states that the Friends With Benefits actor claimed he had just one martini at the luxury Long Island hotel before following his friends home.
However, police noted that he had “bloodshot and glassy eyes,” which could be seen in his photo, as well as a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath during the investigation, according to documents.
The office of his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., issued a statement to Page Six on Wednesday saying, “Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations,” and that the attorney “will have a lot to say on the matter.” In due course,” but was “awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s Office.”
Burke is a prominent Hamptons attorney who has represented Matt Lauer, Lizzie Grubman, Jason Kidd, and other high-profile clients.
Timberlake, who is currently on tour, is scheduled to have a court date on July 26, but we're told he won't have to attend the procedural hearing.
