Jugend forscht Knowledge of MDR presents all Central German state competitions live on the web for the first time

Leipzig (OTS)

In 2022, MDR Knowledge will participate in all three Central German state competitions for the first time, where the best young researchers in the region will be selected and qualified for the national competition for the famous prize. The eliminations in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, run by Daniela Schmidt (MDR Knowledge), which will take place from 30 March to 9 April 2022, will be broadcast live on MDR Live broadcasts and on YouTube channels MDR and state competitions.

The state competition of Saxony-Anhalt will start in Halle (Saal). Presentations of the search results will be presented there at the Weinberg Campus on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, all day long. Starting at 5 p.m., MDR will broadcast the final epilogue live and on YouTube. On April 1, 2022, MDR Knowledge will be located in Jena at Ernst Abbe University, where the final match of the Thuringia State Competitions will take place and will be broadcast live on the web by MDR from 4pm. With the final live broadcast on April 9, 2022, from 6pm from the Saxon grammar school Bürgerwiese in Dresden, the state competition in Saxony ends the three-elimination round in the central German state. The respective winners qualify for the national competition #Jugend #forscht, which will take place from May 26-29, 2022 in Lübeck.

Searching for young people

Jugend forscht is Germany’s most famous young talent competition. The goal is to attract young people interested in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology, and to find and foster talent. There are more than 120 competitions nationwide each year. Youth from grade 4 through age 21 can participate. The sponsor of the competition is the Federal President.
