Jeremias Fleidel Review – Transformation | Concerti.de

With astonishing musical maturity, cellist Jeremias Fledel navigates a mixture of styles on his debut album, which is also sonically intelligent.

The cello band, whose nine members play Stradivarius cellos, does not exist? Well, at least hypothetically, Jeremias Fleidel made this idea a reality. On his first album, the Austrian, who plays the Stradivarius, recorded all nine parts of Villa Lobo's “Bachianas Brasileiras” No. 5 one by one – an experiment that was not only an excellent success in terms of sound, because Fliedl deftly plays the fine line between freedom and And the intensity that characterizes this music. All the works on this album refer in some way to the past: Stravinsky's “Suite italienne” on Pergolesi, Hindemith's “Fourning Music” on Chorale, and Tchaikovsky's “Rococo Variations” on Mozart. Technically brilliant and of astonishing musical maturity, backed by the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Fliedl moves confidently in all styles. Strong start.
