Jack Black proves that he has great taste in games

Actor Jack Black, who plays video game villain Bowser in the new Mario movie, is himself a huge gaming fan and has been involved with the game that he’d like to see in a movie.

With Bowser, not only does Jack Black play one of the most iconic video game characters of all time, but he’s also an avid gamer himself.

The actor even has his own gaming channel on YouTube with ‘JablinksiGames’ with around 4.8 million subscribers (via Youtubeas of 06 April 2023).

vs. BBC The actor said he’s a huge fan of video game adaptations as long as it’s done right. He gives a concrete example where he thinks this has been successful.

Jack Black praises The Last of Us movie adaptation

“Last of Us was great. The crazy thing is how loyal they are [die Serie] Stick to the original template. It’s basically everything from the game, just with a few tweaks. You will win all prizes. They almost used the video game like a storyboard and I was like, ‘Wow, that looks the same'”.

The actor also sees great potential in other games that could be implemented as a movie or series. Jack Black names a very popular game that he thinks is well suited for this:

“And there are some great games that haven’t been covered on TV or film. Maybe there will be a Red Dead Redemption movie? It should, because I think it has a story as good or better than The Last of Us.”
