Inventory using autonomous drones: Anyline and Mondi with new technology for warehouse inventory management – Drones | News | Logstra

Anyline, a company that provides mobile data collection services using artificial intelligence, has introduced drone software for warehouse inventory management. This solution enables independent scanning of warehouses and distribution centers to increase the efficiency and accuracy of inventory management.

This standalone barcode scanning solution was developed in collaboration with packaging and paper manufacturer Mondi. The goal was to improve inventory management processes across multiple large warehouse locations. After testing several technologies, including handheld RFID devices and camera scanners, the choice was to integrate Anyline's handheld data collection technology into the DJI Mini 3 Pro drones.

“Inventorying a warehouse using autonomous drones was a huge challenge,” explains Rainer Stiefel, IT Director at Mondi. “We were very happy that we were able to realize our vision together with Anyline. After several months of testing, problem-solving and… “During the integration with our back-end systems, we were able to conduct a successful inventory run in our first warehouse, proving that the technology works seamlessly. What initially seemed like a science fiction fantasy is now a reality.”

The introduction of this technology represents a significant step forward from traditional methods of stock picking, which required manual scanning and working at height, often requiring overtime outside normal warehouse operating hours. Thanks to the new drone solution, an employee can now record the entire inventory regularly, aisle by aisle and during normal business hours. This not only increases the security and accuracy of inventory, but also simplifies the mandatory counting of the entire warehouse.

“Both Anyline and Mondi have a passion for innovation,” says Lukas Kinegadner, CEO and Co-Founder of Anyline. “We are proud to be part of this project that is redefining what is technologically possible – across industries.” We look forward to continuing to work with Mondi and other companies to set new standards and inspire others to drive innovation and new ways of working.

Founded in Vienna in 2013, Anyline has made a name for itself through the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The company offers solutions that enable reading, measuring and interpreting visual information using any mobile device. This is used, among other things, in the automotive aftermarket, where manufacturers and retailers use Anyline technology to capture tire and vehicle sidewall data, including tire DOT codes, vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and license plates, via cell phone cameras .
