Together with startup HeyCharge, In-Tech Smart Charging has developed a new product for charging communications in buildings and underground parking lots. The core of the product is HeyCharge technology, which enables charging operations without an internet connection or mobile network.
HeyCharge has already found prominent supporters of this basic idea: In January, BMW acquired a stake in HeyCharge through its investment arm BMW i Ventures.
Together with In-Tech Smart Charging, a technology called “SecureCharge” is now used: together with In-Tech Smart Charging’s Charge Control C contact unit, an indoor charging product has been created. The charging process can be easily activated via the app instead of via the backend system or RFID. The smartphone connects locally to the charger via Bluetooth or NFC – and later transmits all relevant data once it has a network back outside the underground car park.
For this purpose, the console, which had been built for years, was expanded to include an additional circuit board. This was possible thanks to an important feature of Charge Control C: companies could easily power specially developed hardware modules via the expansion plug and give them the opportunity to adapt the software. HeyCharge integration is also developed on top of this.
In-Tech Smart Charging customers can now use the additional feature for themselves, because the solution also works with hardware extension and software update on already produced AC charging stations. Charging infrastructure manufacturers can now also integrate the solution into their chargers.
“Even after a relatively short collaboration over the past few months, a very impressive and innovative product has emerged,” says Thomas Wagner, CEO of In-Tech Smart Charging about the collaboration with HeyCharge. “It makes shipping easily possible in a previously challenging environment and represents an affordable and convenient solution for both commercial service providers and end users.”
Christopher Cardi, Managing Director of HeyCharge GmbH adds: “Electrified vehicles already represent a significant proportion of new registrations. Charging for more than a million possible buildings in Germany alone is becoming more and more important at the moment.”
