There's an extra day on the calendar this year, and Krispy Kreme is celebrating by offering customers discounted donuts.
The company announced Monday that it is offering customers a dozen of its original glazed donuts for $2.29 with the purchase of any dozen at the regular price on Thursday, February 29, in honor of Leap Day.
Additionally, customers who celebrate a birthday on February 29 can receive a free dozen of Original Glazed Donuts, no purchase necessary. Krispy Kreme said proof of birth date is required.
“An extra day out of the year presents an irresistible opportunity for Krispy Kreme to be extra nice to our guests,” said Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer at Krispy Kreme. “So, we're celebrating Leap Day by the dozens, including fans whose real birthday only comes every four years.”
Krispy Kreme is offering free donuts to customers affected by the AT&T outage
Krispy Kreme distributed free glazed donuts to anyone who experienced problems with cell service on Thursday.
The donut chain has given customers at participating retail locations the ultimate SOS service, offering one free OG donut after a nationwide communications outage affecting tens of thousands of customers.
“SOS?! While your service is down, we're serving it! Free Original Glazed® donuts from 5-7pm today for anyone having difficulty with service. Krispy Kreme said on Instagram.
A company spokesperson told USA TODAY that you don't have to prove you were affected by the outage to get the freebie.
