Hollywood remembers late KTLA news anchor

Hollywood stars took to social media this weekend to pay tribute to Sam Rubin, the beloved KTLA anchor who died on Friday.

“Your professionalism is unmatched by your kindness and humanity.” Viola Davis wrote on Instagram. “I will miss having you on the red carpet. God bless your loved ones. Good luck.”

Robin was a popular entertainment anchor on KTLA-TV's morning show and appeared all over Hollywood at award shows and red carpet events. He died of a heart attack on Friday at the age of 64.

“KTLA 5 is deeply saddened to report the passing of Sam Rubin.” I wrote the channel on X (formerly Twitter). “Sam was a giant in the local news and entertainment industry and one of the stars of Los Angeles morning television for decades. His laugh, charm and caring personality touched all who knew him. Sam was a loving husband and father: roles he cherished dearly. Our thoughts are with Sam's family during this time Al-Asib.

Comedian John Mulaney also took a moment to honor Robin at the end of the final episode of his show John Mulaney Presents: Everybody in Los Angeleswhich streamed live on Netflix on Friday evening.

“A special farewell in Los Angeles to Mr. Sam Rubin,” Mulaney told the crowd before the signing.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos honored Robin On Instagramwriting, “Red Carpet awards season wouldn't be the same without KTLA's Sam Rubin. Always having the most fun and always a smile and a laugh. He was a legend in this town.”
