Manufacturing will be carried out in the European Hella production network, while development will take place at headquarters in Lippstadt. The first customer of the electric braking system is an unnamed German manufacturer. The brake pedal must be wired Simulate the feel and behavior of a mechanical brake system, in which the pedal is connected to the brake system via a rod, according to the supplier.
By switching to fully electric brake control, the system enables weight savings of up to 20 percent on the one hand and supports autonomous driving functions better than previous mechanisms on the other hand. “With our wire-by-wire technology, many bulky hardware components are no longer needed. For example, the brake rod has always been an important point in the design of the car.”says Bjorn Toehaus, managing director of Hellas Electronics. “With our wire brake pedal, we’re now taking that aspect away and creating entirely new possibilities for designing the vehicle’s cabin to be very flexible.”
