Hard West 2 on Steam: Open Beta – Release in 2022

Good Shepherd Entertainment and Ice Code Games announced in a press release Thursday evening that the open beta of Hard West 2, the superhero sequel to the turn-based strategy game played by more than half a million people, will begin today via Steam, starting on PC.

The demo, which will run until June 5, 2022, features an excerpt from the game’s full campaign and showcases some of the special abilities characters will gain on their exciting journey through the Dark Heart of the West.

Comparison with the predecessor

Hard West 2 outperforms its predecessor in every way. The new Bravado system provides a more aggressive approach to tactics and combat, and rewards attack to extend the Bravado streak and do more damage. A highlight of the action are gunfights on the go, with dynamic levels set in changing environments to create the action-packed sensation of fast-paced horseback pursuits and the face of an exciting train robbery.

Enemies are destroyed by special abilities such as Shadow Elf Archers – an attack that ignores cover and can hit multiple enemies. Add to that Flynn’s Shadow Swap, which lets her switch places with a friend or foe; Dead Man’s revenge on Old Man Bill, which can hit anyone in sight and scales based on damage inflicted; and Laughing Deer’s Wild Run, which increases its damage the further away from the target.

Players should take advantage of the luck they get from taking damage or losing opponents – this can increase the chances of hitting and turn difficult situations in your favor. If you wish, you can acquire new skills and give your troops additional skills or improve existing ones using the Ghost Collection.

• Conquer the dark frontier: When world-famous con artist Gene Carter ambushes the legendary “ghost train” in search of gold, he discovers that the Devil himself is chasing after him! Now the Jinn must lead a strange group of outlaws to save his soul in a land ruled by darkness. Players explore frozen waste and lawless frontier cities in the Wild West in a desperate battle against the living and the dead.
• Bravado System: Killing opponents activates a new Bravado state and refills spent Action Points. Whether it’s from cover, attack, or with a nifty combo, he kills in a row – whoever annihilates everyone and everything that passes through the Wild West does well.
• Animated penalty kicks: Hard West 2 turn-based combat takes place in dynamically changing environments and keeps the brain engaged like a trigger. From horseback chases to thrilling train robberies, unleash your western imagination as you push your strategy to the limits.
• Reinforcement of links: Using mystery playing cards, you can improve the hands of the gang members in poker. Upgrade with guns and explosives or ammo and whiskey just to keep everyone looking good.
• Abnormal leader: Players are responsible for a growing group of outlaws, witches, and other mysterious beings. Only those who make the right decisions earn more loyalty points and can acquire new skills for those closest to them. On the other hand, making a bad decision tests your commitment to the whole cause.
• The good, the bad, and the dead are dead: Wild West folktales meet occultism in a character-driven story expertly voiced by voice actors Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), Darren Sills Evans (Days of Gold) and Adam Gifford (The Colony). Music is written by BAFTA Award winner Jason Graves (“Dead Space”) and co-written by Matt Furbeck (“Deadlands”) winner of the Origins and New York Times bestseller.
