Gwyneth Paltrow Trial Updates: Goop mogul owes Terry Sanderson $3.2 million for lost magic in a skiing accident, lawyers say

The attorney for the man who accused Gwyneth Paltrow of causing a 2016 skiing accident has used a make-up formula to claim the actor owes his client $33 an hour, or a total of $3.2 million, for his injuries.

“He’s 76 years old,” Owens told the jury. “My parents, I mean, I’m not upset but they were dead at the time.”

“They sure haven’t made ten round-the-world trips.”

“The easy thing for my client was to write a check and get it done,” Owens said. “But what does that teach her children?”

Owens said his client was a “punching bag” and the real victim of the accident.

“He cut it and then demanded $3 million for the fun of it,” Owens said.

Buehler argued that for 16 hours each day, Sanderson is forced to live with the consequences of the meltdown.

Pooler argued that although there was no value to Mr. Sanderson’s quality of life, he randomly suggested that jurors consider awarding him $33 per hour, as he had suffered cognitive decline since the accident seven years earlier, and for the ten years he is estimated to live . .

“There are lawyers and experts here… some of them make $300 or $500 an hour,” Buehler said. “I’m going to suggest a number. Enter the number you think is fair to Terry. The full value of the damage and losses he deals with every day. I’ll say $33.”

According to Buehler’s formula, Sanderson must be awarded $3.2 million, which was the amount he initially offered back in 2019 before Judge Holmberg lowered the amount to $300,000.

Buehler told jurors that Sanderson would have to deal with an “invisible brain injury” for the rest of his life.

“It lasts a lifetime,” said Mr. Buehler.

“When people get to know him, after a while they don’t want to deal with him anymore.”
