On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, app update v4.2.20231003.575121345 was released for the Pixel voice recorder app “Recorder” pre-installed on Google Pixel devices.
This update to the Recorder app for Google Pixel v4.2.20231003.575121345 adds automatic language detection as a new feature for the first time in a while. As the name suggests, the automatic language detection feature automatically detects the language spoken by the speaker and transcribes it.
However, the automatic language detection feature does not appear to be available if Speaker Labels is turned on in Settings. If you want to record and transcribe multilingual conversations using the Recorder app, you’ll need to turn off the Speaker Labels setting.
