As previously reported, Google announced on the 6th (local time) the November 2023 monthly security patches for the Android smartphone platform and Wear OS for smartwatches. Later, on the 8th of the month (local time), the company released a software update containing the November 2023 security patch named “Made by Google” for the “Pixel Watch” series of smartwatches, which are being released under the “Pixel” brand and we are glad that We inform you that it will be available from the same day.
The software update will be implemented over the network (OTA) and will be made available sequentially over the next week, and the target model is only the LTE version of “Pixel Watch 2” with Wear OS 4, including the original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2. Wi-Fi version Not applicable. The update content is just a security update, and the version number after the update is “TWD9.231005.005.B3” globally, including Japan-specific products.
The Pixel Watch series is a smartwatch equipped with the Wear OS operating system introduced by Google as its own brand. The first Pixel Watch was released last year, and its successor, the Pixel Watch 2, was released in October of this year. The Pixel Watch 2 came with the latest Wear OS 4.0 pre-installed, the Pixel Watch came with Wear OS 3.5 pre-installed, but since last month, an OS version upgrade to the latest Wear OS 4.0 has been made available.
Additionally, as previously introduced, Google announced that the Pixel Watch will be provided with monthly software updates, including security updates, just like Pixel smartphones, and the Pixel Watch will be provided with software updates for three years from the release date until October 2025. Software updates for the Pixel Watch 2 will be available until October 2026, three years after the release date.
To update Wear OS, select Settings → System → System update on your Pixel Watch or Pixel Watch 2 and follow the on-screen instructions. You can check the version number on your Pixel Watch or Pixel Watch 2 by going to Settings → System → Device Information → Version. The changes to the Pixel Watch series announced by Google in November 2023 are as follows.
