One of the players bought a new graphics card. In order to fit into his system, he relies on harsh methods. But this also shows a general problem: graphics cards are getting bigger and bigger.
User purchased a new graphics card. But the part is not commensurate with its lodgings. Instead of buying a new bag with more space, he simply sawed a hole in the right outer wall (via reddit.com).
The end result looks really terrible and will certainly scare fans of “clean” systems and good airflow. The reactions under the pictures are very different: some shake their heads in bewilderment, others explain that they had similar thoughts when the new graphics card just didn’t fit.
You have to imagine that gamers have abused computers under their desks.
Even if we can’t say for sure if the user actually edited their computer as shown in the image, the post still shows an issue that many gamers should be aware of by now.
Graphics cards are getting bigger and bigger
Most users actually agree on one fact: modern graphics cards are getting bigger, more heavy, and require more space. Anyone who has bought a new graphics card from AMD or Nvidia in the past few months should have noticed the overall growth in pixel accelerators.
In addition to a large circuit board, many manufacturers also use massive cooling systems to cool powerful chips.
A number of users also share pictures of their gaming systems below the post. And here it can be seen almost everywhere: the space between the graphics card and the housing is very narrow. Often there are only a few millimeters between the casing and the GPU. Some also explain that their graphics card feels as big as the entire computer:
- “My GPU is almost touching the front mounted cooler… maybe 3mm apart.”
- “He thinks [GPU] Just about seizures.”
Nvidia recently introduced a small graphics card, but it is not suitable for gamers. It may be a while before small, slim graphics cards appear for gamers again. Because with AMD and Nvidia, there is now a trend for graphics cards to become larger and, above all, faster.
You can see a particularly cool case in the following video:
You should think carefully about buying a bag
If you are building a system, think from the start whether you want to upgrade again later. At the latest, when you later decide on a more powerful graphics card or want to install water cooling, you need enough space.
And this is where the sentence comes in: If you buy cheap, you buy twice. Because in the most annoying case, it doesn’t fix your hardware and you can buy a new or different case.
Of all the compacts, a good case with plenty of space and options is usually the longest running and most popular companion for many years. While the inner workings often change, the “status” remains the same. Another reason to take enough time for this ingredient:
That is why you should not ignore the case when building a computer
