Freaky Friday 2 cast and release date in 2025 in theaters

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are finally back together on set, as Disney released the first behind-the-scenes look at the production of “Freaky Friday 2,” which is now officially filming. Lohan and Curtis reprise their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman, respectively.

Disney has yet to announce plot details for the follow-up to the 2003 comedy favorite, but the studio has now confirmed that “Freaky Friday 2” will open in theaters in 2025. Rumors that the sequel may be exclusive to Disney+ are not true. The original film grossed $160 million in theaters worldwide.

Joining Lohan and Curtis in the sequel are returning cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Cristina Vidal Mitchell, Hailey Hudson, Lucille Song, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chow. New cast members include Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons.

While Lohan and Curtis teased Freaky Friday 2 for most of 2023, Disney didn't officially announce the sequel was moving forward until March of this year. Nisha Ganatra is directing the film. She recently directed episodes of Hulu's “Welcome to Chippendales” and directed the feature films “The High Note” starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and “Late Night” starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson.

Curtis first sparked interest in a second Freaky Friday film when she told The View in October 2022 that she had personally written to Disney about wanting to produce the sequel. Original film producer Andrew Gunn returns for the follow-up alongside former Disney executive Kristen Burr.
