The Founders Trio puts the chamber music of the virtually unknown American composer John De Gooch in the right light.
john d. Gooch? There's no shame in never hearing the name. Wikipedia doesn't know him, and even Google found only a few entries about the Florida-based composer, whose music can best be classified under the neo-Romantic category. The septuagenarian's works are controllable: an orchestral work recorded by the South Florida Symphony Orchestra in Naxos, as well as a variety of chamber music, which you can now learn about on this CD. Excellent musicians work here who do everything in their power to put in the right light the qualities of Gotch's music, which are mainly reflected in the original percussion and pointed ornaments. As they say, it's nice to hear it. However, you don't have to be an avant-garde to find the unbroken major and minor harmonies of Gooch's music sometimes flat. Once the music enters your ear, it turns off again just as quickly.
