Frontier Developments plc today unveiled the first behind-the-scenes video of F1 Managers 2022, the new officially licensed F1 management simulation game. F1 Manager 2022 will be released in Summer 2022 for Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam and Epic Games Store.

F1 Manager 2022: Behind the scenes

In “Episode 1 – Be the Boss” players learn about the role of Team Leader, the person who is the heart of every Formula One team. Team managers are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the team, from hiring and retaining world-class drivers and staff to developing vehicle components and strategizing race weekends. In F1 Manager 2022, players will make every decision short and long term to lead their team to glory in the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship.

Frontier CEO and Founder David Braben presented the episode before handing it over to Game Director Andy Fletcher, who will take players on a “factory tour” at F1 Manager 2022 along with Technical Director Matt Dickinson and members of the development team.

As Ross Brawn, General Manager – Motorsports, Formula 1, explains, the team manager role will provide a fascinating insight into another aspect of Formula 1. Players can take control of the selected 2022 F1 constructor and define their own management philosophy as they strive to meet and exceed the expectations of their team’s board of directors. Team leaders need to manage their budgets effectively and balance short-term gains with long-term progress. So they have to design and manufacture new components for the current car while keeping an eye on next year’s design. Investments in facilities, drivers and staff must be carefully considered if players are to put their own stamp on one of the 10 official 2022 F1 teams.

Authentic gaming experience

Emphasizing the most accurate recreation of the sport possible, Frontier’s focus on delivering a live broadcast-quality presentation on weekends is led by David Croft, F1’s chief commentator at Sky Sports, who is his in-game voice alongside commentators – his teammate and ex. Hearing the voice of Formula 1 driver Karon Chandhoek. As previously announced, these aren’t the only familiar sounds players will hear, as all 2022 drivers can be heard via an innovative mass radio system and respond to orders from race engineers. A successful team manager is expected to effectively manage tire strategy while leading the way to the podium in dramatic races that can change at any moment. Will players be the first to risk slick tires on a fast-drying track? Or is a poorly timed safety car or a red flag shattering expectations? By presenting a wealth of data during the session, F1 Manager 2022 provides team managers with the opportunity to fine-tune their racing strategies, manipulating each driver’s pace and directing ERS deployment in key time windows to win those crucial last tenths.
