Harry Styles released his first single, “Sign of the Times” five years ago, in April 2017. Since then, he’s crafted one of the weirdest and weirdest songbooks of the modern era – an impressive body of work by a genius singer, songwriter, and performer. And he’s about to grow up, because he’s also an evil angel of chaos who never gets tired of making a mess of our lives.

Now is the perfect time to celebrate this songwriter, while the world awaits his third solo album, Harry’s houseAnd That’s dropping May 20 (and as the world recovers from its invasive sequin Coachella ensemble) so let’s break it down: All 30 Harry Styles tones ranked and reviewed. No clunkers here, just gems, so it’s a tribute to every song.

Let’s face it, there are a lot of Harrys. He’s a pop star. Representative. A scholar in the history of music. Fashion icon. The dangerous madman who finds his happiness in flopting out of our skin, shattering our expectations, and dancing to our madness. And frankly, bless him for that. It’s all of those things, but as these songs prove, the most real and honest Harry is the one who put his heart and soul into this music.

The list includes everything from his solo albums, as well as his new number one song, “As It Was.” Also the two new songs from Harry’s house which he just presented at Coachella. We’re counting songs he’s regularly performed on his tours, even if they haven’t been officially released. Sure, that’s totally cheating, but otherwise we’d have to leave “medicine” off the list, which would be a tragedy.

Obviously there are no one-way tones; This would be a completely different list. (As the old song says, we don’t want a shadow holding us hostage, right?) This list excludes his great one-off versions, like “Landslide,” “Juice,” or “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” (Believe me, I’ve been tempted to cheat on this rule to include a Coachella duet with Shania Twain.)
